Benjamin Sergio Garufi, 76, a retired truck driver, died Tuesday April 8, 1997 at Bethel Health Care.
He was the husband of the late Nancy A. Piazza Garufi, and had lived at 9 Long Hill Drive, New Fairfield and Sebastian, Fla.
He was born in Bridgeport on July 28, 1920, a son of Giuseppe and Josephine Milamaci Garufi. He attended Bridgeport schools.
Mr. Garufi lived in Danbury for several years, and moved to Florida in 1984. He moved to New Fairfield 5 months ago and made his home with his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Susan Garufi.
Before his retirement in 1981, he was employed as a truck driver for more than 20 years with E&F Construction.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union. In Florida, he was a member of the Polish American Club.
Besides his son, he is survived by a sister, Martha Bruno of Queens, N.Y.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours.
SERVICES: Friday at 11 a.m. at the Congregational Church of New Fairfield with the Rev. David W. Hughes, Pastor, officiating. Burial will take place in Prince of Peace Cemetery, Brookfield.
The Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.

La cosa più curiosa, mi pare, è che l’omonimo facesse parete del Polish American Club.
Esiste un ramo galiziano, che tu sappia, un Witold Garufowicz, un Bruno Garulz?

anche a me ha incuriosito, ma dalla galizia potrebbe uscire qualcosa da parte di madre (spagnola), non di padre. boh

Intendevo la regione storica della Galizia, divisa tra le attuali Ucraina e, appunto, Polonia. Si faccia una ricerca genealogica, orsù, mica possiamo rimanere con questo dubbio.

e io manco lo sapevo, figurati un po’…cmq qualche parente dovrebbe averlo un bonsai genealogico, cercherò di ripescarlo.
